Busy Backyard

The backyard has been a busy place lately.
I finally decided which of today's photos to post on the 365 day blog,
Curiously Intertwined, but couldn't pass up posting these also.
I took these with my 75-300mm zoom lens.

Searching for Goslings

Today I was on a search for goslings down by the canal.
At first this little lost one was the only gosling I could find.

Next on the walk down the canal was this mama and her little ducklings.
This guy showed up next quite briefly.
I am lucky to have gotten a picture.
He was so fast I had to look at my picture when I got home
to see what he actually looked like.
I had no idea what he was so on a whim I looked up what a muskrat looked like and,
what do you know, it looks just like him.
Finally I came upon what I was looking for - the geese and their goslings.
There were five in total.

Not shown are the turtles that were in the water and
came up for air and were gone so fast,
there was no chance to even try to capture them in a photo.

Hoping you find what you are looking for,

Sharon

Spring in the Neighborhood

I went for a walk around the neighborhood
to see if I might find something different to take a photo of for my 365 Day blog.
I found beautiful things I don't have in my own garden.
I found some that I do have.
I found a Sweet Gum tree that is not leafing out yet
and, for Raewyn, those spiky things from the Sweet Gum on the ground.
I found more lovely daffodils,
but the shot I liked the best came from my own backyard.

Friday's Forgotten Photos

The new year is here and I seem to have lots of photos from 2013 that never made it onto the blog.  I am starting a new feature here called "Friday's Forgotten Photos" that I will be posting until such time that it is no longer needed.

The first set of pictures is from Florida in April.
Fireball and I had the pleasure of a few days away.

We left our footprints in the sand.
I looked at sidewalks and saw quilt patterns.
The water and weather was gorgeous.

This bird stood in the water until his feet disappeared just like I did.

I found interesting things to photograph.
We had dessert instead of lunch.
And then had dessert after that.
We woke up early just to see the sunrise.

It was totally worth it.

This bird, and many others like him, were up early just like we were.

And he left his footprints in the sand.

I have started another year of 365 pictures over on Curiously Intertwined
Please join me there too.

See you soon,

Sharon

A Little Spring

Day 20 of the June Challenge:  Water
For today's photo I chose the bubbly fountain we just installed in our little alcove.

Since yesterday was filled with summer photos, and I'd like to get caught up by the end of June, today I will share some photos from my yard from back in April when spring was just emerging.

Good bye, spring.  Hello, summer.

See you tomorrow,
Sharon
