Smiles and Twirls

I've made a blue dress for the birthday girl
I used the swing dress option from the First Day dress and top pattern from Made.
I added blue rickrack,
and made her a blue button necklace.
Can you tell that blue is the current favorite color?
The dress has a back slit and button opening,
and is lined with a fun dotted print.
In fact the lining actually makes this dress reversible.
I think the necklace looks equally well with this side of the dress,
and the dress that is now the lining is just as fun on the flip side.
I am considering this completed project a success
based on the smiles and endless twirling that happened today.

Wishing you fun completions,
Sharon

Butterflies and Bees

Mom has a good friend visiting from out of town this week
so M and I took them down to the White River Gardens.
The first thing to see is the butterfly exhibit.
Then it is on to the gardens.
As always I am fascinated by the bees on the flowers.

See you soon,
Sharon

April Celebration, a late post

Here is a little story that I had in draft status and had forgotten that I never posted it.
We had a birthday last month and celebrated with a family breakfast.
We did lots of picture taking.
The wee ones walked,
ran,
and did some serious flying!

Wishing you some celebrating,
Sharon

Spring in the Neighborhood

I went for a walk around the neighborhood
to see if I might find something different to take a photo of for my 365 Day blog.
I found beautiful things I don't have in my own garden.
I found some that I do have.
I found a Sweet Gum tree that is not leafing out yet
and, for Raewyn, those spiky things from the Sweet Gum on the ground.
I found more lovely daffodils,
but the shot I liked the best came from my own backyard.

Finally Home

When we last met I had made a clay tree on a snowy day with my friends.
The trees have been fired and returned to their respective creators.
The trees were made in sections.  Mine starts with swirls on the bottom.
This section reminded me of cross hatching and resembles an owl.
Here is a little fan quilting.
And, of course, you know I love birds.
The top reminds me of an ice cream cone.
I like the way the red clay shows through the sky blue glaze.
I put a few cut outs in the sections so I can have a little glow when I put a light in it.
I took a couple of the cut outs and placed them back on the tree for more texture.
I think my favorite part is the star on the top.
It had a small mishap since I last saw it, but it has been repaired.
I'm not sure where in the house my tree will end up,
but I really do love my tree.

Wishing you some creative time,
Sharon

A Little Something Different

Yesterday I had the opportunity to try something new and hang out with my quilty friends.
We worked very hard
and ended up with these very creative and different trees.
The trees are painted and are waiting to be fired.
I can't wait to see what mine will look like when it is done.  The color should look very different from this.  I'll be sure to show you a picture.
On the way home I encountered more snow.
Our predicted 1 to 2 inches of snow turned out to be more like five and a half.  Just one more half inch of snow this winter season, and we will set a record for the snowiest ever.

Wishing you new things and a little spring,
Sharon

A Little Slice of Time

Between tearing up carpet and cleaning the residue from the carpet pad
I have been doing some sewing.
Little E needed a bag to carry her baby carrier.
I made her this one with an adjustable shoulder strap, a drawstring top and
a camouflaged pocket to hold a few diapers, some wipes and maybe Mom's keys or her phone.
The fabric matches the fabric on the carrier itself.
Since it is an older line, it took quite an intense internet search to find it, but in the end, I was successful.
After the bag I made a new pillow case for a body pillow we gave to DIL, R,
to help with pregnancy comfort.

I hope you can find a little slice of time to sew.

See you soon,
Sharon
