Easter Dresses Revealed

As promised, here is the Easter dress reveal.  The patterns above are the ones I used.
They came from my childhood home, have been in my possession for many years
and are dated 1959 and 1957.
Dress number one was made for GB#4.

I love the details that are a part of the vintage patterns.

Of course, the dress alone was not enough.  It needed a sweet pinafore.
The back was just as sweet as the front.
The details continue on the pinafore.
Ruffled eyelet trim,
and a scalloped hem complete the look.
GB#4 seems happy with her new outfit.
Dress number two was made for GB#2.
I used a different floral than the first dress but used the same pink gingham for the accents.
The details continue on this dress.

It was such a joy to work on and complete these little treasures.
I love the outcome.  Mom (CJ) was especially thrilled.
And since the girls were dressed in their new duds,
I took the opportunity to do a quick photo shoot of their whole family.

Downtown Friday Night

Fireball, M and I headed downtown tonight.
I didn't bring my camera so I used my cell phone to snap a few photos.
The view from the circle (the absolute center of town) looked exceptionally pretty.
What a difference just a few minutes makes.
The very short but well-lit building was our destination.
You can see Fireball in the bottom, right corner of the picture.
You can see M nearby taking her own photos.
Destination.  Hilbert Circle Theater.
The symphony orchestra played Shostakovich 7.
It was excellent.

The Ear Flap Hat

I've made a hat for GB#3.
He did not scream when I put it on him, a good thing as M points out.
He left it on long enough to have a little "face to face" with Grandpa.

Blustery Days

Since the weather has been most blustery and cold lately,
I figured GB#3 needed a carseat canopy to keep him warm and snuggly.
So with that in mind I made one.
It hooks onto the handle of the seat.
It has this cute little flap
which reveals this cute little window through which to spy on the cute little baby.
And it flips back to uncover above mentioned baby...
if he were actually in the seat.

I found the tutorial here
if you are interested in making one for a little one in your life.

See you soon,
Sharon

Pumpkin Day

Every year we carve pumpkins just before Halloween.  Today was that day.
Above is my "before" pumpkin.
This is my "after."
Here is M's "before"
and her "after."
She wasn't entirely happy with her first one so she did a second.
Almost "before" for L.
"After" for L.
R's owl.
And Little E's progress got derailed by an unwell child.
While we are on the pumpkin theme I thought I'd show you some adorable things M made.
These are crocheted pumpkin trick-or-treat bags for the little girls.
Her stitches are beautiful.
She is quick and is good with the details.
The little girls will have fun filling them with goodies.

Wishing you creative time,
Sharon

Costume Request

I was asked to make a Halloween costume for GB#4.
It began as a regular infant jumper.
The pattern is another one by Made by Rae and you can find it here.
I made it longer to cover little legs from the potential cool weather.
I added elastic at the bottom for easier diaper changes.
The snaps at the back mimic the dots in the fabric.
The little pockets are really just for show,
but we like to pretend that she will have a place for her cell phone and car keys.
Then I drafted a bib-style pattern to make a collar.
The result is one little strawberry.
GB#4 will be wearing it with the hat I made for her earlier.

Wishing you fun projects,
Sharon
